St. Teresa Orphans Foundation

St. Teresa Orphans Foundation (STOF) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-porfit organization that works with both orphans and vulnerable children in Songea District and the Ruvuma Region of Tanzania, Africa.

The organization was founded by Teresa Nyrienda in September 2001.  Teresa’s initial concern was to provide for these children the basic human needs of food, shelter, clothing and love.  In so doing she believed she could rescue some of these orphans and vulnerable children from a life of child abuse, child labor practices, homelessness, drug abuse, prostitution, early pregnancy, crime and premature death.

The foundation and it’s efforts have grown dramatically since 2001.  Purposeful and practical programs now exist to teach and train children to be honest and trustworthy people of good moral character.  A Sunday School program teaches the children Biblical principals and how to apply them to every day life.  STOF also strives to provide for and support orphans and vulnerable children in general education, higher education and vocational training so that they may have a future of self-sufficiency.

In November, 2009 Teresa and Jeremy Litchy were married and now serve St. Teresa Orphans Foundation (STOF) together.
