The First Sunday of Advent

Today is the first Sunday of Advent. It marks the beginning of the four weeks leading up to the celebration of the birth of Christ and reminds us of the future hope we have in His return. Advent means "coming" or "arrival." This week's theme is HOPE.
Hope is much more than wishful thinking. It is not simply an optimistic approach to life. Hope is projecting Jesus forward. For the Christ-follower, our hope is in Jesus. He was born into our world, He lived, He died, and He rose again. Hope is an evidence-based approach to anticipate what will happen in the future.
We can be confident that our life is "hidden with Christ in God" (Colossians 3:3) and that this HOPE is an "anchor for our soul" (Hebrews 6:19). To say that we hope He returns is not something we say half-heartedly. Those who know Jesus can be confident and hopeful!
'And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. ' Romans 5:5
